Company Philosophy
The Japanese archipelago is a region rich in biodiversity and natural resources, even by global standards.
For many years, humans have lived in harmony with nature, skillfully utilizing these natural environments. However, with advances in science and technology and population growth, the impact of human activities on nature has increased significantly. As a result, the loss of biodiversity has become a serious concern, as evidenced by the growing number of species listed as endangered in the Red Data Book and the changes in ecosystems caused by climate change.
Particularly, the Ryukyu Islands are an archipelago, and because each island is small in area, they are vulnerable regions where populations are easily adversely affected. Indeed, the invasive mongoose, which is problematic in the Yanbaru region, preys on species inhabiting these areas, leading to the loss of biodiversity.
The Island Wildlife Laboratory Co., Ltd. was established to actively address these issues and conserve biodiversity in the Ryukyu Islands. We prioritize the conservation of the Ryukyu Islands' natural environment, accumulating knowledge, experience, and techniques for conservation through our activities.
Starting in 2025, leveraging the experience accumulated in the Ryukyu Islands, we will expand our activities nationwide in Japan, including Hokkaido, as a specialized operator handling wildlife. We aim to contribute to society by fostering a sustanable coexistence between humans and wildlife.
